Is a used Nikon P1000 worth buying?

Yes, if the zoom is genuinely what you need — moon shots, birding, safaris. Inspect the big lens for dust or haze (the P1000's Achilles heel over time), test the zoom motor across the full 125x range, and confirm image stabilization behaves. Working used units on Shopfox with returns offer the safest entry to the world's longest zoom.

Does the Nikon P1000 hold its value?

Remarkably well for a superzoom. Because nothing else offers its 125x (24-3000mm equivalent) zoom and Nikon never replaced it, used P1000 demand stays steady and clean bodies trade close to new price. Buying used saves modestly rather than massively. Track P1000 listings across sellers on Shopfox with price history.

What is the best price for a Nikon P1000?

The COOLPIX P1000 launched at $999 and still trades near that level years later — it has no successor, so pricing stays firm, around $997 new at retail. Current Shopfox listings span $730-$2,165 by condition and bundle. Use the P1000 price history on Shopfox to confirm you are paying the low end for the condition you want.
