My Acer Swift won't charge — what should I check?

Try these in order: a different USB-C cable and charger (cables fail more than laptops), a reset of the battery via the pinhole or keyboard shortcut if your model has one, and a close look at the port for debris. Reddit threads show Swift charging faults sometimes escalating to hardware failure — one user even reported a burning smell — so stop using a faulting charger immediately and claim warranty if swapping cables doesn't help.

Is the Acer Swift good for students?

Generally yes. The Acer Swift's combination of light weight, decent keyboard, and respectable battery makes it a classic campus laptop for notes, browsing, and office work — just don't expect dedicated-GPU performance for serious gaming or video editing. For the price students typically pay, the Swift covers the actual workload well.

How long do Acer Swift laptops last?

Varies more than it should. Some owners get years of reliable service, but Reddit documents premature failures too — batteries dying around the 1.5-year mark and charging-port faults on some units. Treat a Swift as a good-value 2-3 year machine rather than a decade laptop, and buying refurbished with warranty keeps the economics sane.
