Is a used 2017 MacBook Pro a good deal?

A used 2017 MacBook Pro can be a good deal for light users if the price is low and the keyboard and battery are healthy. Prioritize models with 16GB RAM and a larger SSD for smoother performance. Because condition varies a lot, compare New vs Refurbished offers on Shopfox and check the price history so you don't overpay for an aging machine.

Is the 2017 MacBook Pro keyboard reliable?

The 2017 MacBook Pro uses Apple's second-generation butterfly keyboard, which was known for reliability problems like stuck or repeating keys. Apple ran a repair program for affected units, though coverage windows have largely ended. Some machines work fine while others need service. When buying a used 2017 MacBook Pro, test every key if possible, and factor a potential keyboard repair into the price.

What's the newest macOS the 2017 MacBook Pro can run?

The 2017 MacBook Pro is reaching the end of official macOS support, and newer macOS releases are dropping older Intel Macs. It can still run recent supported versions it already qualifies for, but expect it to stop receiving major upgrades soon. That affects security patches and app compatibility over time. If long-term software support matters, weigh that before buying a 2017 MacBook Pro today.
