Is the DJI Neo 2 worth it for a beginner?

Reviewers widely say yes — Engadget called it the best budget drone made even better, and Tom's Guide named it a top budget pick. The combination of palm launch, real obstacle sensing and 4K video makes it about as approachable as drones get for first-time pilots. Check the price history on Shopfox before buying, especially around bundle deals.

What camera does the DJI Neo 2 have?

The Neo 2 uses a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor shooting 4K at 60fps, 4K/100fps slow motion, and 2.7K vertical video for social platforms. That vertical mode is a big part of its appeal for creators posting to Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Reviewers were positive on the footage given the size and price class.

Can you launch the DJI Neo 2 from your hand?

Yes — palm take-off is a core feature, and the Neo 2 adds Return-to-Palm, where the drone locates your palm, flies back and lands on it steadily. You can fly it entirely without a controller using gestures or voice, or step up to the mobile app, a traditional RC or the Motion Controller. That controller-free operation is the whole point of the Neo line.

Amazing drone with great video camera and fun to fly

Very fun, very stable and battery life is fantastic. I've flown many FPV drones and technology has come a long way, this fights off wind pretty amazing. If you get the bundle with the batteries you are getting a great value for the money.

Great Drone Kit, especially for beginners

This drone is awesome—the motion controller makes even a first-timer feel like a pro. I totally recommend this package, though I wish it came with a standard controller for learning the ropes on future models that don't support motion control. You can use your phone as a controller, which is a nice backup. The follow-me feature is brilliant, and I'm still discovering new tricks. My only gripe is the range: I lost contact flying about half a mile away, but the drone safely returned and landed on its own. The safety features are great for beginners, but I'd love to disable them once I'm more confident to fly closer to objects.
