Home Cinema 3700 vs 3800 — which to buy?

The 3800 refines the same bright-3LCD formula with modestly better contrast and newer processing, while the 3700 counters with lower used pricing for nearly identical brightness and lens flexibility. Both share the loud-in-high-lamp trait. Used-market condition and lamp hours decide most matchups between siblings this close.

Is the Epson 3700 loud?

In high lamp mode, yes — Projector Central notes its fan noise there runs louder than typical for home-theater projectors, the cost of pumping that brightness. Eco mode quiets things considerably while extending lamp life. Dedicated theater rooms notice; living rooms with any ambient noise won't.

Does the Epson Home Cinema 3700 have lens shift?

Yes, both axes — vertical and horizontal lens shift alongside the 1.6x zoom, giving installers unusual placement freedom for a mid-priced 1080p projector. No perfect-pedestal mounting position is required. That kind of flexibility is a genuine luxury at this price tier.
