Is the Xbox 360 S still worth buying in 2026?

For retro gaming, yes — with one big caveat: Microsoft closed the Xbox 360 digital storefront in mid-2024, so new digital purchases are gone and physical discs are the way to play. That makes console condition and included game bundles the value drivers. Compare Xbox 360 S listings with games, controllers and working drives on Shopfox before buying.

Xbox 360 S or original Xbox 360 - which is better?

The 360 S, clearly. It is smaller, dramatically quieter, cooler-running and far less prone to the Red Ring failures that plagued early original 360s, plus Wi-Fi is built in rather than an expensive dongle. For retro play today, the S is the reliable choice. Compare Xbox 360 S bundles and condition on Shopfox with price history.

What are the specs of the Xbox 360 S?

The Xbox 360 S (2010) is the slim redesign of Microsoft's seventh-gen console: a redesigned processor assembly that runs cooler and quieter, built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, five USB ports, a 250GB (or smaller) hard drive, dedicated Kinect port and a glossier smaller chassis than the original 360. Units currently sell from $50 on Shopfox by condition and bundle.
