Name: Nikon D500 Digital Cameras
Brand: Nikon

Question 1

What should I check when buying a used Nikon D500?

Accepted Answer

Check the shutter count first (the D500's mechanism is rated around 200,000 actuations, but count still drives price), then the autofocus module behavior, sensor cleanliness and the vertical grip contacts if a battery grip is included. Wildlife bodies lead hard lives. Buy from Shopfox sellers with returns and stated shutter counts.

Question 2

Does the Nikon D500 hold its value?

Accepted Answer

Extremely well. As the last true DX flagship with its 10fps burst and pro autofocus system, the D500 remains the wildlife and sports DX standard, and no replacement has arrived — so used prices stay firm years after production ended. Selling later costs little. Track D500 listings across sellers on Shopfox before buying.

Question 3

How much does a used Nikon D500 cost?

Accepted Answer

A clean used Nikon D500 body currently trades in the low four figures — roughly $1,000-$1,500 depending on shutter count and condition — with kits and premium refurbs reaching higher. That is remarkable for a 2016 camera, and deliberate: the D500 has no successor. Compare D500 shutter-count disclosures and prices on Shopfox with price history.
