Nikon D60 body only or with the kit lens?

With the kit lens, almost always — the 18-55mm costs the buyer little secondhand and covers the learning range from wide portraits to mild telephoto. Body-only makes sense only for owners with existing AF-S glass. The bundle teaches more per dollar than any upgrade.

What should I check before buying a used Nikon D60?

Three things: shutter count from the menu or a photo tool, sensor condition under bright light for dust and scratches, and that the kit lens focuses smoothly without grinding. Fire a test frame at every aperture if the seller allows it. The D60's mechanical simplicity means honest checks catch most real problems.

How much should I pay for a used Nikon D60?

Fifty to a hundred dollars with the 18-55 kit lens is the honest 2026 band — below that, suspect trouble; above it, better cameras await. Bodies alone trade cheaper, since the kit lens carries real value for learners. Compare D60 kits on Shopfox to see the going local rate before meeting a seller.
