Name: Nikon Z7 Digital Cameras
Brand: Nikon

Question 1

Can the Nikon Z7 use my old Nikon F-mount lenses?

Accepted Answer

The Z7 uses the newer Z mount, but Nikon's FTZ adapter lets you mount F-mount lenses with autofocus retained on most AF-S and AF-P lenses. Older screw-drive AF lenses will mount but lose autofocus. Many Z7 buyers use the adapter as a bridge while gradually moving to native Z glass, so check whether a listing includes the FTZ adapter.

Question 2

Is the used Nikon Z7 worth buying?

Accepted Answer

For many photographers, yes. The Nikon Z7 delivers the same 45.7MP output as its successor at a meaningfully lower price on the used market, making it strong value for landscape, portrait, and studio work where buffer depth and dual slots matter less. Wedding and event shooters who need card redundancy should step up to the Z7 II. Check the price history on Shopfox before buying.

Question 3

What does the Nikon Z7 II add over the Z7?

Accepted Answer

The Z7 II adds a second card slot, dual EXPEED 6 processors, and a much deeper buffer, going from around 23 RAW frames on the Z7 to roughly 77 on the Z7 II, along with faster continuous shooting. The sensor and resulting image quality are unchanged. The upgrade is about workflow and action shooting rather than picture quality.
