Is the New Nintendo 3DS still worth buying?

It depends on your goal. With the eShop closed, its value now rests on a large physical game library and backward compatibility with original 3DS and DS cartridges. Collectors and people who want that specific library still find it worthwhile, while anyone wanting new releases should look at current hardware. Check condition, hinge wear, and screen quality carefully on any used New Nintendo 3DS.

What is the difference between the New Nintendo 3DS and the New 3DS XL?

The main differences are screen size and customization: the standard New Nintendo 3DS is smaller and has swappable faceplates, while the XL has noticeably larger screens and no faceplate system. Both share the same C-stick, amiibo support, and processor upgrades. The smaller model is generally scarcer on the used market, so compare listings on Shopfox before buying.

Is the New Nintendo 3DS region locked?

Yes. The New Nintendo 3DS is region locked, so a console bought in one region will not play retail game cards from another region. This is worth checking carefully when buying used or imported units, since the hardware otherwise looks identical. Confirm the region of both the console and any bundled games in the listing.
