Is Micro Four Thirds good enough on the LUMIX GH7?

Yes, the Micro Four Thirds sensor on the Panasonic LUMIX GH7 is well suited to video, offering excellent stabilization, deep depth of field for run-and-gun, and a huge, affordable lens lineup. Full-frame edges it in extreme low light, but the GH7's format keeps the system compact and versatile. For most video work the sensor is more than capable.

Panasonic LUMIX GH7 vs GH6: what's the difference?

The LUMIX GH7 adds phase-detection autofocus, internal ProRes RAW, 32-bit float audio with an optional adapter, and refined processing over the GH6. If autofocus and audio flexibility matter, the GH7 is a clear step up. The GH6 remains capable for less money. Can the Panasonic LUMIX GH7 record ProRes internally?

Yes, the Panasonic LUMIX GH7 can record Apple ProRes and ProRes RAW internally to a CFexpress card, a rare feature at its price that streamlines high-quality workflows without an external recorder. It also offers open-gate and high-frame-rate options. For editors who want post-production flexibility, the GH7's internal ProRes support is one of its standout advantages.

A camera to grow into

Back in 2015, I realized that a portable camera you actually use is worth way more than a heavy DSLR gathering dust. Moving from the GH3 and GH4 to the GH7 has been a massive improvement—the generational leaps are exponential. This is arguably the most capable professional video tool in a compact, 'carry-all-day' form factor. Still photos are excellent, and the low-light performance is a huge upgrade over the GH4. I love the backward compatibility; I'm still using lenses from 2016 and can even swap batteries with my older gear. While it’s arguably overkill for beginners, the 'Auto' mode makes it accessible for anyone to capture family moments. Just a heads-up: shooting at max resolution eats through storage and batteries quickly, and the 32-bit floating audio requires an additional module. It's a professional powerhouse that grows with you.

Awesome Camera

I'm still getting to grips with this camera, and it definitely feels like it has more potential than my current skills can fully utilize. That said, the physical function buttons are a great touch and very helpful for navigation.
