Name: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Tablets
Brand: Samsung

Question 1

Should I buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 today?

Accepted Answer

Honestly, only for a narrow purpose. It's a 2014 tablet with no security updates and growing app incompatibility, so it's a poor choice as your main device. It can make sense as a cheap dedicated screen for offline video, an e-reader or a controller for smart home gear. If you want something supported, compare current Samsung tablets across sellers on Shopfox.

Question 2

What sizes and models does the Galaxy Tab 4 come in?

Accepted Answer

The Galaxy Tab 4 was sold in several screen sizes — around 7, 8 and 10.1 inches — with both Wi-Fi-only and cellular variants, and the model numbers differ accordingly. Maximum Android version and specs vary between them, so check the exact model number on the listing rather than assuming all Galaxy Tab 4 units are identical.

Question 3

Can I update the Galaxy Tab 4 to a newer Android version?

Accepted Answer

Not officially — Samsung stopped issuing updates, so the built-in system update will find nothing. Some owners install custom ROMs to run newer Android, but that requires replacing the stock recovery with something like TWRP, which is the hardest step and carries real risk of bricking the tablet. It also voids any remaining warranty. Most people shouldn't attempt it.
