How much does a Sony VPL-XW5000ES cost?

The XW5000ES lists at $4,799 on Shopfox — firmly flagship-cinema money, though below launch and steadied by Sony's value retention. Lamp-free ownership removes consumable costs. Check the XW5000ES's price history on Shopfox before committing. Check the current listing details and price history on Shopfox before you buy.

Does the Sony XW5000ES have lens shift and memory?

It carries physical lens shift for installation flexibility, but lens memory — automated zoom/focus presets for widescreen formats — is reserved for the step-up model, so constant-image-height setups need an anamorphic workaround or manual adjustment. Know your screen plan before buying the 5000ES.

Sony XW5000ES vs XW6000ES — which should you buy?

The 6000ES steps up brightness and adds lens memory for scope screens at a higher tier; the 5000ES delivers the same native-4K laser foundation for thousands less, ideal in light-controlled rooms. Bright-room installs justify the 6000. Used XW5000ES pricing on Shopfox makes it the value flagship.

It is native 4K and a Sony!

I upgraded my home theater in October 2025 and chose this Sony projector. It's huge and heavy (28 lbs), so make sure your mount is solid. Setup was tricky because there's no keystone – you have to manually adjust the lens shift, which took me about 30 minutes. But once set up, the picture is insane – you can see pores! Colors are vibrant, and the fan is virtually silent. The laser technology promises 20,000 hours of life. The only minor issue is some slight judder during fast pans, but smoothing options help. Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase.

Great projector

Overall, this is a great projector. HDR performance is decent — the best I've seen from a projector so far. I wish it had better web/API controls, but it responds well to IR emitter automation, so that works.
